In my last post I mentioned a horror story night in Baguio. Terrible hotel, "destroyed" WiFi, no fan, mosquitos everywhere..but at least we had the oj Simpson miniseries to pull us through.
I chose to make a return to Baguio, because I'm starting to love this country. Seriously. Could I let myself have an unfairly poor opinion of a city? Of course not. What I returned to find out was Baguio has my favorite restaurant in all of the country so far. If you find yourself there, get to Sessions Road and find Azotea Greens. Vegetarian Filipino dishes. Mushroom Sisig is my favorite, but also they make juice. With vegetables! I was starting to forget either of these things existed.
No trip to Baguio is complete without a visit to the Good Shepherd shop on top of the hill. The good shepherd ube is one of the more popular items, and I've quickly become a follower to the church of ube. The more times I spend in the cities the more I realize how much the Filipino people are a blessing to earth. I met a random group of people kicking a football around the park and they invited me to go out with them.
You know me!!! I declined but it goes to show the welcoming nature of the people here. At first treated it with suspicion but now I welcome it. I can't wait for this to burn me when I leave the country!!
Baguio is a quaint town. Not as big as manila, but just as nice. A lot come here to escape the weather, but I come for the mall. I spend too much time in malls. I'm writing this in the mall!! It's okay, I can get pizza here. Actually, if you're here and not eating some of the best food on the planet you're such a jerk.

The night market in Baguio is also another must visit. Get anything you need! Shoes, shirts, shirts, shirts, more shirts, hey need shoes? It's rather crowded and I'm not sure if its just Saturday but it's on one of the main strips there, right outside the park. It's a cool experience and I got a shirt! I'm cool like that. I think I lost it already, though.
Anyways, Baguio has a good mix of the urban and rural parts of society here. It's a bit chillier than the south and it's a good middle ground for traveling around the north. Only two hours to La Union, and a few more to Sagada. It's a good place to stop by for a day or three.
