Ah, the States. I reference it at times, and often compare things to it. "Oh, that's cool we'll we do this! Or that!" Or the states blah blah. Does it matter at all? Obviously each place does things differently.
This isn't a comparison of x is better than y, but of oh that's interesting let me share what we do with you. But.. it's reaching the point of uncertainty. What exactly do we do NOW?
It's now march. I left the states in November. That means 2017 I've been abroad. The trump presidency? Abroad. I'm into month four of a journey and now that I've renewed my passport, I'm not sure when I'll return. Granted, of course I will... for visiting. As far as for good? I'm not going to look back.

Last night amidst a conversation I shared that I don't miss things very often. I rarely catch myself missing someone because what you miss is the moments created, but from the past. "So you don't miss your dad?" Of course I do, but I've learned that he will never come back. So I don't let that cloud my judgment.
Always be moving forward is my motto lately. I've been making so many friends it's hard to keep up, but I do. Just ask any of the tens of people texting me everyday (across four languages ahhh), and I'm almost certain to respond when given the time. Keeping up with friends is so important and I always give people the audience they deserve, when I can. I'm grateful for everyone I meet.

Have I changed? Of course! I don't want to stand still. I'm not the same person from yesterday, or even last week. Everyday I grow and learn more, and alter myself to fit in better with the world as I see it.
I've been in Indonesia two weeks now and it's been the most pleasant surprise of my trip. Before I arrived I planned for 15-20 days, now I'm looking for work so I can stay put for a few months. The rainy season is ending soon, and it's the perfect time to find a place.
Indonesia is quite magical, really. Even Jakarta has so much special going on. Yeah, okay, traffic, whatever. Look beyond that and you see a true land of opportunity. Contrast this to the one I come from, and I know where my heart currently lies.

Indonesians are football mad, as well! I'm assimilating nicely with the culture here, and everyone is as warm as throughout Asia. Indonesia is just extremely positive. Every person I meet stays with me, in a special place. I've only had amazing experiences here, and I think a few months more will rejuvenate me.
The food is also amazing, honestly. I'm a huge fan of Gado Gado (Gado2!) and nasi uduk warms my soul. Bandung might be the most well balanced city in the world. It's the perfect mix of metropolis and rural paradise. Tired of the millions of beautiful local coffee shops? Drive up to the countryside, enjoy a waterfall, pick some flowers, whatever your fancy.
I think all my blog posts are shining endorsements of these countries, but it's all true. I can be happy here, and not be looked at funny. I've been considered a Bule Gila here, but most the people genuinely enjoy my silly antics. I'm talking about you, guy who laughed at me playing hop scotch across the street in Braga during rush hour!
I guess the main concept I had in my head here is I've reached the point that I have no home. I'm halfway out the door in USA, and ready to settle down a few months. Not too many, but enough to say I lived here. And loved it.
I guess it's a goodbye to America, my old home. And hello to the road, my currently. I may be houseless but I'll never be homeless.
