"-7 power?! But he just hit 42 home runs!"
I remember many a summer afternoon, meticulously building my MVP 05 baseball team. The key was to use the fantasy draft, and draft extremely high contract players. Your starting payroll was your budget for years, therefore always take Pujols as early as you can. Not only do you get the amazinf player, but an insanely high ceiling of a contract. Rusty Greer really late in the draft was always a steal, awful player but high contract.
Eventually the end of season review rolls along and your prospects do a massive upgrade. Rickie Weeks gets about +10 speed, Hanley Ramirez +6-7 in contact. Then the peculiar ones. That's strange, Pujols won the MVP, is only 30 and his stats are declining?
This video game logic has thrown my entire adult life into a strange feeling of aging too soon. I'm nearing 30 myself and it's becoming evident this season won't end with a -7 rating in power, but definitely a +10 in knowledge.
For years I played the sports games and athletes in their prime, once they eclipse 30 start to lose their most valuable attributes. Being a sports fanatic my whole life, I was not excited to approach the same, I was rather frightened. Sure my body doesn't recover as it did a decade ago, and there are the aches here and there, but let me tell you this: EA sports is bullshit. 30 is not this magical cutoff. I doubt 40 is. I'm growing. I'm growing more and more each day and certain Intangible aspects of my life are as well.
Aging gracefully, so they say. More drive at times, to do something new. Ive even played more futsal per week than I have in years! All in all, this short post was meant as a reminder to some that age is nothing but a word. Make of it what you will. But, make the most of it as well.
P.S. I've been so inactive and I apologize! I anticipated being able to share some excitement sooner but bureaucracy is what it is.
